GUKPT Leg 7 starts Thursday in Luton

The second GUKPT Luton of the year gets underway at the Grosvenor Casino on Thursday. This is Leg 7 of the GUKPT’s 13th season and features a £200,000 guarantee Main Event along with a £20,000 guarantee Mini Main.

The £1,000 + £110 buy-in Main Event takes place October 10-13 with unlimited re-entries. Players get a 20,000 starting stack and 60 minute levels. Late registration is open until the start of Day 2. The packed schedule also includes an £150 Omaha 4/5/6 event, several NL tournaments and a £150 75/75 Bounty tournament – plus, of course, lots of satellites and cash games.

 

MainEvent Travel sponsors the GUKPT all in triangles so do look out for them on the live stream from Leg 7 in Luton.

GUKPT Luton is always a hugely popular stop – and a destination that’s been on the GUKPT calendar since the very start of the tour in 2007. However, this is the first time that Luton has featured on the tour scheduled twice in one year - the GUKPT also visited Luton in June with a €10,000 guarantee Main Event.

Grosvenor Ambassador Jeff Kimber said: “GUKPT Luton always feels like the start of the ‘business end’ of the poker season, with three big buy-in events - Luton, Blackpool and the Grand Final - coming in quick succession. I've made the final table twice in Luton without managing a podium finish so I feel like I have some unfinished business there. I can't wait.”

Fellow Ambassador Joe Beevers added: “It’s Christmas quarter! The best three legs on the tour for me! Hard work to be done Luton, Blackpool and Grand Final at the Vic!”

Some big names have been emerged victorious at previous editions of GUKPT Luton; the roll call of previous winners includes the likes of Dave Clark, Sam Trickett, Richard Gryko, Neil Channing, Charles Chattha, Jamie O’Connor, Adam Reynolds and John Eames, while Driton Haxhiaj has won twice – in both 2013 (for £42,750) and three years later in 2016 for £61,520.

June’s Main Event was won by British player Chris Louch. The amateur player from Southampton topped a field of 382 entries to take home a career-best prize of £50,550.
