Once upon a time, there was a card room in a little town called Stockholm. The town where everyone is named after the Nordic mythology has blue eyes and blond hair. It's the middle of Scandinavia where polar bears walk on the streets, every house is filled with furniture from IKEA, and drives a Volvo.
In this little town, the little card room opened a day during the mid-20s, and the owners named it Sviten (directly translated as the suite). This card room had hundreds of poker players gathering each week to play poker. After endless hours down at Sviten playing every form of poker, there was they started to come up with new games. After many trials and errors one of the owners, Anders Bengtsson, came up with the idea to combine two games in one and play it pot limit. Just like that, the game of Sviten was born.
The rules of Sviten are as simple as its genius. It's just like playing five-card Omaha AND a five-card draw. The pot is divided into two and one pot goes to the one who has the best hand in Omaha and the other half goes to the one who has the five-card draw hand. But of course, there's a nice twist to everything. After the flop, you can change as many cards as you like from your five-card hand and if you only choose to change one you can have it open and an option to take it or not. Doesn't it sound like fun? At least the Swedes think so and the startup in today's Sviten event here at the Hilton Park shows how popular it is.
But it's not just the Swedes who started to love the game Sviten (or Drawmaha as it's also called) over the years. So has the Finns, Danes, and Norwegians but so far the only country having a championship of Sviten is Sweden but that's only since 2012. However, after having a look at the starting field it's safe to say that this is a game for the Nordic Vikings. Only 13 of the 102 entries in the event are from somewhere else.
It's a safe bet to say this probably is the happiest tournament up on til now and surely the loudest so far with many of the familiar faces from the time when the card room Sviten still existed. Sadly the good old card room shut its doors but the card game however continues to live on and will so for many, many years more.

Israel was ahead but at risk on the stone bubble. The turn card wasn't very good for him as it gave Pihela additional outs for a flush.
The river was Jack the Reaper of golden rings and dreams for Nemo Israel. He took the bad bead as a champ and smiled as he was standing up.

Teddy Bremseth came to Tallinn to have some fun and hopefully walk away with a ring. He had a good stack to start the day but was down to just 70,000 when we last walk by him.
"I lost to one short stack with jacks," Bremseth said.
"What did your opponent have?"
"Queens," said 2023 WSOP Circuit Tallinn Winner Jon Kyte who was sitting behind his friend Bremseth at a different table.
We also learned Bremseth doubled another stack with tens vs. kings. Best of luck to Bremseth for either getting it in with a better pair or his lower pairs getting there.

We learned from Phil Gross, who is now on the rail and ready to play the €1,100 Mystery Bounty, that he brutally hit the rail in a huge pot.
Gross shared he had on a board for a full house. The third-nuts on the board wasn't enough as his opponent had the second nuts with to end Gross's Main Event run in a gross fashion.
Meanwhile, recent €350 PLO ring winner Aki Pyysing, also recently hit the rail, ending his quest for a second ring.

Arduini Lorenzo three-bet jammed for about 75,000 from the cutoff and was called by the friendly Frederic Delval, who opened from early position.
Arduini Lorenzo:
Frederic Delval:
Spades were asked for about the flop before another spade came on the turn. The river improved Lorenzo to a flush to stay alive and double his stack.
The table had a good laugh after the hand as they saw Delval take out his phone.
"I track all my flips," which got a laugh from Ignotas Tamasauskas, Indre Martoviciute, and others.
"No, I really do," he said as he took out his phone.
We got a peak from Delval as he scrolled up for us to show that although his flips mostly have a minus sign recently, he has a streak of plus signs in the mix as well.
While Delval has been one of France's most successful players over the years, with more than $600,000 in tracked poker tournament earnings at The Hendon Mob, he doesn't have any WSOP hardware. We wish him the best of luck in that quest.

We noticed two travel buddies sitting a few seats apart on the same table in 2023 WSOP Circuit Tallinn €1,100 PLO 4&5 champion Jon Kyte and Joshua Stewart.
Meanwhile, my travel buddy on the Baltic Road Trip to WSOP Circuit Tallinn was also at the same table nearby Event #1: €250 NLH third-place finisher Marius Hakonsen.
"Of course, Joshua is doing good," said Kyte after we returned the question he asked me in between hands about how we were doing. You see those two green chips (100K each)?"
"Did he win any through you?"
"Of course," replied Kyte. "I bet double the pot with a bluff on the river and Josh made the brave call with second pair."
The next hand then began. Kyte opened the button before he called a three-bet shove by Arto Loikkanen to 33,000.
Arto Loikkanen:
Jon Kyte:

The blog met the energetic and always so nice Jeffrey Cormier from Canada a few days ago as he was playing day one of the Main Event. Jeff came outside the hotel to take a break since he had been having some problems getting his hands to hold up and was in for a total of six bullets.
"Relax, take a deep breath, and be happy you're getting those bad beats early rather than later in the tournament", I said Jeffrey told me he wasn't running that bad and it was not even bad beats that took him out those previous five times (he was still in for his sixth bullet). He had just had a lot of setups so far but had a decent stack on his sixth tryout and was going to make it last.
"Wow, six bullets", I said and Jeffrey laughed. "Well you know I won all of them so it's fine, I'm actually plus on this trip but surely would like this bullet to be the last", Jeffrey said as he continued giving me the story of how he managed to win these seats.
"Well, you know, first I played the mega satellite and had so many good hands its was unbelievable. I had aces, kings, queens, and jacks the first levels of the tournament. When the bubble burst I had 550,000 in my stack and we started with 15,000".
I was still curious about how he won the other five seats and Jeffrey continued telling me how he busted the first time, going down to the casino playing some blackjack. "So, then I won myself a seat at the blackjack table and went up to play again, busted, and went back to the casino where I won another seat playing blackjack and so I did five times". I started laughing and said, "You know you're referring to the blackjack table as a satellite right?". Jeffrey looked at me and smiled. "Yes, it's perfect! I'm in for six bullets and still on the plus side of this trip".
The last bullet seemed to go his way and he finished day one with a healthy 167,500 in his stack. Starting here today he continued his way of playing and already eliminated three players within the first couple of orbits and sits with a very healthy stack next to the old EPT regular Ishak Noyan from Sweden who leaned over the table as Jeffrey busted two players and said: "It's ok, you take this one and I'll take the next one".
As we were summing up the article Jeffrey stood up in the tournament room clapping his hands and saying: "Victim number five" as yet another of his opponents stood up and left the table.
This guy is on fire!

Jeff Cormier has been hot off the bat. We've witnessed one smaller elimination when he sent out a short-stacked player with tens against eight-seven suited. However, there were at least two more before then including a big one against Jari Hurri.
Hurri check-raised the flop before jamming a blank river with his pocket rockets, with both players starting the hand with healthy stacks. Cormier called both times and turned over for trips to grow his stack to one of the largest from around the room.

There are different ways to satellite yourself into the tournaments in Tallinn and WSOP Circuit. One of these ways is Flip Lounge. A fun and thrilling way for the one who likes to gamble and is funnier than flipping a coin.
The flip tournaments are run every day to every tournament and basically, it’s ten players who all play one hand and the winner of that hand wins his seat in that specific tournament. So far 15 lucky players have won their flips and not only won a seat into the tournament but also a seat in the WSOPC Mega-Flip held on Saturday where they play for a Kings of Tallinn 2024 Autumn Edition Main Event Package.
For anyone who still wants to join the action you have until Saturday to play in one of these Flip Tournaments to get a seat in the Mega-Flip. You don’t need to win your seat to qualify for this event you just need to attend one of these flips during the week.
