Roope Tarmi Finally Takes a Ring for Finland as Taking Down the €3,000 Event #11 Posted Sunday 24th September, 2023 at 17:00(UTC+0) by Lina Olofsson

We are on the finishing line of the WSOP Circuit here in the Estonian Capital and on the last and final day, there was not only the €1,500 €1 Million Guaranteed Main Event up on the feature stage. Right next to it, we had the final table of Event #11 - the €3,000 NLHE - that started yesterday with a huge field of 97 entries creating a prize pool of an impressive €260,736. The winner in the event would walk away with almost a third of that with €78,280 alongside the golden WSOP Circuit ring.

As the game started yesterday we had so many notable players in the field and a ton of action which you can catch up on from our live coverage from day 1. Just before midnight last night the bubble burst in this event leaving the remaining 11 players cashing in at least €6,400. An hour later we were playing for the final table bubble with eight players remaining but after Yi-Zhan Peng was eliminated from the outer table we had the final seven players who could bag their chips before the final starting today right after noon and the announcements of both the Main Event finalists and the lucky number seven players who were in it to win that 10th ring out of the 12 up for grabs.

As the final table kicked off we had Elias Suhonen at the top of the leaderboard but for the first time it was actually very close between the players at the top and we all know that everything can happen in poker so it was still anyone's game as the tournament director Teresa Nousiainen announced the final table and said the well-known words: "Shuffle up and Deal".

Nikiforov Won't Work 9 to 5

Ilya Nikiforov came into today's final as the short stack and needed a double up or two to be in the hunt for the win as the blinds would eat his stack pretty quickly in this shorthanded tournament. But sadly for the Estonian player, his ace-king didn't hold up against the chip-leading Suhonen with nine-five as Suhonen caught a five on the flop sending Nikiforov to the cashier desk in seventh place for €10,750.

Another player who needed to work a bit on his stack was Lithuanian Deividas Butnoras coming into the final as second last in chips. After losing a bit of it he found a neat double up but even so, with several aggressors at the table he would get a lot of pressure on him and when looking down on ace-nine he decided it was good to go. Sadly he ran into Markku Koplimaa with the dominating ace-queen. However, on the way to the final card, it looked like it would be a chopped pot with two aces and two nines on the board but a queen on the river wasn't good for the Lithuanian Deividas Butnoras who was off to the rail for a €14,000 as consolation.

Going to the first break of the day the dynamic had changed drastically on the table and we had a new chief of command as Markku Koplimaa had put a lot of pressure on his opponents from the start and built his stack well. As soon as they were back in action he would take on another big pot as he eliminated Tommi Lankinen after they got all the chips in with a top pair for Koplimaa and a flush draw for Lankinen. No flush for Finlands Tommi Lankinen and he was eliminated in fifth (€18,450).

15 minutes later it was time again for Markku Koplimaa to put a player at risk as he got his fellow countrymen Mauri Dorbek all-in before the flop in a classic coin flip situation with jacks versus ace-queen which couldn't pair on the board sending Dorbek out for €25,050 as the fourth place finished.

The Three Final Musketeers

Down to the final three players, Koplimaa had a nice lead with 2,6 million in his stack, Roope Tarmi from Finland had 1,6 and our former chip leader going into today's action Elias Suhonen was the shortest one of the three with 800K. And after losing almost half of that to Tarmi he was down to only five big blinds which went in the hand after. For his tournament life, Suhonen was in good shape for a double-up with ace-king versus ace-four against Koplimaa. It all looked good until a four on the river hit and Elias Suhonen was out as our third-place finisher for €34,550.

Two-to-one Advantage Heads-Up

As the heads-up began not much had gone wrong for the Estonian Markku Koplimaa who now had a two-to-one chip lead against his opponent Roope Tarmi from Finland but it was going to be a tense match between the two last-standing players where they'd soon be even in stacks. After a hand where both players flopped a flush draw and Roope Tarmi also flopped a pair to his he took over the lead from Koplimaa.

In the final hand of the tournament Markko Koplimaa pushed his chips in from small blind with king-queen getting called by Roope Tarmi with ace-six and after another ace on the flop and no other help to our player at risk it was all over and Markko Koplimaa had to settle for a second-place finish worth €50,450.

Finally A Golden Ring for Finland

Over the past nine final tables in these circuit events, we've had a majority of Finns on there but they still haven't been able to take that golden ring back to The Land of the Mumin Trolls today, on the final day, they finally had a Finnish flag at the top of the result thanks to Roope Tarmi for his amazing performance at this final table. Alongside the €78,280 he could also try out the ring size for that stunning golden WSOPC ring which will have his name on hit.

Toomas "Stablecoinflip" Orm Wins OnlyBet Online Event #10 (€9,087) Posted Sunday 24th September, 2023 at 13:02(UTC+0) by Lina Olofsson

On Friday, Event #10: €350 NLH OlyBet Online Event was held here in WSOPC Tallinn but this time it wasn't at the Olympic Casino. It was actually online at OlyBet making it possible for players not to be able to attend this fantastic festival to compete and lay their hand on one of these beauties.

The €50,000 Guaranteed Online Event kicked off at 8 p.m. Friday night and attracted 124 entrants with 20 players cashing in this event. Up to this date, this is the single biggest prize in the OlyBet-exclusive tournament.

One hour into the tournament Toomas "Stablecoinflip" Orm decided to join the action and registered and this would turn out to be a very good decision as he ended up winning the whole thing. We got a chance to sit down and have a little chat with our latest Ring Event winner as he came into the Hilton Park and Olympic Casino to take his winning shot.

Great Start of Turning Pro - Again

Toomas Orm used to play professionally up until ten years ago but after a few hard years, he decided to stop and took a job as a salesman. It wasn't until the end of last year as he had a good run he decided it was time to give it another shot going pro again.

"I have two daughters and that makes you think differently at these things but as this year started I had built my bankroll up and felt comfortable to do this as a profession again," Orm explained.

This was the second €350 buy-in ring event he played during the WSOPC Tallinn as he also entered another event live here at the Olympic Casino. Even though Orm mostly plays no-limit hold'em tournaments online, he has $12,745 in live tournament winnings according to The Hendon Mob and one of his biggest tournament cash wasn't in a hold'em but instead in a pot-limit Omaha event in Malta earlier this year.

"I never play PLO but it was the very last day and I was bored so I took a shot in the very last tournament they had," Orm shared. "That was a Pot Limit Omaha and that was the first time I ever played it. When we were at the final table I started to feel a bit stressed though since it was really late and I had a flight to catch at seven in the morning."

Orm thought he'd have to book another flight back home to Estonian but eventually, they decided to make an ICM chop of the remaining prize money with five players left giving him the most money for €1,800, and as soon as he cashed out he ran off to the hotel, picked up his bag and took a cab to the airport where he came to the gate three minutes before the boarding closed.

But it's safe to say that playing on home soil is where he has his best track record with two big live cashes here from February earlier this year in the Main Event of the Estonian Championship finishing fifth for €3,600 and being runner up in the same championship in a Shootout tournament for another €2,278.

Five Bet Jam on Kosk Took Orm to the Lead

Back to the Online Ring Event the other night he started rocky and thought his days were counted but after first a double up and then a triple up he described the rest of the tournament as very smooth sailing. As he ended up at the table with his fellow Estonian countryman Ermo Kosk the latter tried to push him around but after a hand where Orm five-bet jammed against Kosk with only queen-jack suited and got away with it, he knew this was his tournament.

"I had some really nice rivers," shared Orm. "I was such an underdog and didn't even look at the screen as the board ran out several times but each time I looked up and magically survived. I screamed so many times so I was really happy my family wasn't home."

Loves to play Small Ball Poker

When half the field remained in the tournament Orm amassed a massive lead and as they entered the final table he still had a huge advantage. When the action whittled down to the last five players he had half the chips in play and then he was certain he would take it down as the others only had around ten big blinds each.

But when they started playing heads-up he was actually for the first time giving up his lead a few times but managed to get back up on the horse and when they were even in chips the two players decided to make a deal where they secured €9K each, left the ring and the WSOP Freeroll in Vegas up for grabs.

Even though the deal was made the Heads-up would last for an hour.

"I love playing small ball poker and that's exactly what we did," Orm shared.

At three o'clock in the morning his experience and his strategy with the small balling paid off as he was crowned as the winner.

It's safe to say that Orm has had a very nice return to the poker scene since he decided to take it up and make it a living again and now he has a trip to Vegas to look forward to next summer.

Butnoras was behind, but he flopped a full house on to jump in the lead. "Nice flop," Koplimaa sarcastically remarked.

The turn then fell the and Koplimaa complimented the card in a noticeably less sarcastic tone as he was now chopping with his opponent.

"And now a queen!" Koplimaa requested. His wish was granted when the river completed the board, giving him the higher full house and sending Butnoras to the rail in sixth place.
