There was some Lithuanian crime vs. crime between Christian "Sleeping Beauty" Rygaard and Andrius "Benislovas" Bielskis (pictured below). Rygaard earned his nickname tonight after missing nearly four hours after taking a nap during the dinner break. We learned later, that Rygaard thought the day was over despite not bagging his chips.
Bielskis jammed over a pair of short stacks and Rygaard woke up with a good enough hand to call of his stack of around a dozen big blinds.
Rygaard tabled kings but this proved to be no good against ace-five with two aces landing on the flop. No love came on the turn or river and Rygaard was eliminated in 14th place.
Just before that, the event lost its final female with Lithuania's Viktorija Ignataviciene losing her short stack.

Christian Rysgaard was the chip leader at the dinner break but was missing in action for nearly four blind levels after.

The good news is that Rysgaard is OK, although his stack has seen better days.
"Ah, that was a good nap," Rysgaard said.

Cracked aces and a penalty you ask? While Aleksandrs Krumins didn't receive a penalty for cracking aces, he had to sit out two hands for conduct after acting out of turn in the same hand.
"45,000," Krumins said from the button while the action still stood with the last lady standing in the event in Viktorija Ignataviciene.
The dealer didn't hear Krumins, and Roope Tarmi (pictured below), who was in the big blind, asked the dealer to call the floor.
Krumins and others at the table agreed with Tarmi and the floor explained that Krumins bet stands if the action doesn't change.
Ignataviciene eventually folded and Tarmi defended from the big blind off a stack of around 10 big blinds.
Tarmi check-jammed the rest of his chips on the flop and Krumins wasted no time in finding a call.
Roope Tarmi:
Aleksandrs Krumins:
"Sorry, but not sorry," Krumins said.
Krumins repeated the same statement to Tarmi after the turn and
river completed the board.
While Tarmi hit the rail alongside Juuso Oksanen, Angel Rodriguez, Luka Sorensen, and Mathias Christensen, Krumins was informed about his penalty.
"That's fair," said Krumins.
"If it happens again, the next penalty will be more severe," the floor told Krumins.
Krumins respectfully acknowledged his situation. He stacked up his chips and stepped away from the table before allowed to jump back into the action.

It doesn't make me proud to say this as the Estonian poker community has taken me in and made me feel at home over the past decade of reporting, commentating, and playing.
That being said, it was an absolute colossal failure for Estonians in the €555 Championship as after Dmitri Zatsik hit the rail in 35th place for €1,600 there were no players from the home country still in the event despite around 100 entries coming from Estonian players.
Zatsik got his short stack in good with king-ten against jack-deuce suited but hit the rail anyway after an unfavorable board.
The Estonian media agreed that this might be a bigger failure for the home country than the time when no Estonians came close to the final table at the 2022 Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event after Mark Metsla took 12th place.
"This is a warm-up," Tanel Evert (pictured below) said in Estonian. "In the main tournament, we will show a completely different game!"
The following players including Tomi Arponen pictured below cashed in the €555 Championship for €1,400. The remaining field of 39 players each locked up a €1,600 payout.

Aleksandr Krumins was neck-in-neck with Mikko Ylamaki, Andrius Bielskis, Matteo Cappelletti, and Roope Tarmi at the break for the chip lead. He just pulled ahead of Tarmi after sending Tanel Merida (pictured below) to the rail.
Merida jammed for less than 10 big blinds from middle position before Krumins jammed his massive stack over the top from a few seats over. The rest of the table snap-folded and both players tabled their hands.
"I got caught," Merida admitted as he was turning over his cards.

There may have been some dynamic we missed between Tomi Arponen (pictured below) and Aleksandr Krumins.
Arponen jammed from under the gun for 90,000 and was called by Krumins from the small blind.
Tomi Arponen:
Aleksandr Krumins:
"Queens again?" Krumins said with a smile. "You deserve a ten on the river."
Krumins was asking in a friendly fashion for a ten after the flop and again after the
turn before he stopped himself.
"Oh, it doesn't matter anymore," Krumins said before the river completed the board.

Two-time Kings of Tallinn 8-Game champion Tobias Napel opened for 20,000 from middle position. Viktorija Ignataviciene (pictured below) three-bet shoved the button for 34,000. It took some time for the action to get back around to Napel with players acting slower on the money bubble or maybe with a decision to make. However, as soon as that happened, Napel snap-called for a few chips more.
Viktorija Ignataviciene:
Tobias Napel:
Ignataviciene's friends at neighboring tables and a small rail cheered for her after she doubled her stack on the board.
"Nice hand," the friend Napel said to Ignataviciene after the hand.
Ignataviciene said "thank you" to Napel as she was stacking her chips.

Dmitrijs Arsuns:
Glen Kolmer:
Kolmer improved to a straight on the board. This wasn't a big enough improvement as Arsuns managed to stay alive and double his stack with a flush.
Meanwhile, Andrius Bielskis started Day 2 with a fresh stack and the Lithuanian poker legend, podcaster, and instructor was sitting pretty near the money bubble.

We recently reported how Martin Piik lost most of his stack against Juha Kaitanen with kings against ace-ten. Piik unfortunately hit the rail soon after but ace-ten just after that was hot on another table in a hand between Oleksandr Tarashevskyi and Sjoerd Nikkels.
We caught up with the action with Nikkels having his 30,000 chip stack in the middle and Tarashevskyi having his bigger stack of 76,500 also committed. Thor Morstal had a 10,000 chip already committed from the previous betting and went into the tank before opting to fold.
Sjoerd Nikkels:
Oleksandr Tarashevskyi:
Things weren't looking rosy for Nikkels after Tarashevskyi improved to a set of cowboys on the flop.
However, it was de ja vu on the turn pushing Karjalainen ahead with Broadway.
"Oh, wow!" Karjalainen said softly with pure delight in his voice.
Tarashevskyi had outs to a full house or quads but the blank river didn't deliver either for Nikkels to double his stack instead of hitting the rail.

Late registration just closed and the field squeaked past 700 entries with 701 entries generating a record-breaking €322,460 prize pool for a €555 event in Estonia.
The tournament staff will be double and triple checking the prize pool information and shortly after will be sharing the prize pool payouts.
Best of luck to the remaining 248 players in advancing to the money and beyond in the 2024 Kings of Tallinn €555 Championship.
Players are playing their final three hands at each table before heading on their first break of Day 2. There are a gaggle of players waiting near the registration desk to late enter at the very last moment, so expect the field of 686 entries to grow before late registration is closed after the break.
We will start updating the biggest stacks from around the room on the second break but we will share the payouts before then as soon as they are available.
The second and final day of the €150 OlyBet Flip & Go Mystery Bounty takes place on the final day of the Kings of Tallinn on Sunday, March 3 when at least a €10,000 top mystery bounty prize is guaranteed.
This isn't like any other mystery bounty event as players will need to flip their way into the money in one-hand flips. The flips will run all week long starting on the first break after Level 3.
It is worth dropping by the flips table whether you plan to flip or not as they always provide tons of excitement and drama. Best of luck if you decide to flip away in advancing to Day 2.

Maciej Komorowski bet 7,500 into a pot of approximately 27,000 with already spread on the flop. Matte Karjalainen called before both players checked the

Komorowski bet 22,000 after the river completed the board and Karjalainen went into the tank for several minutes. He counted his chips, began shaking his head, then asked the dealer to spread the pot before repeating shaking his head and recounting his chips. Karjalainen eventually opted to call only to muck his hand after Komorowski tabled the

Level 10: 600/1,200 (1,200)
Entries: 292/570
The field has already grown by 42 entries to 570 entries and counting before the start of play for a prize pool north of a quarter of a million euros.
The field will continue to grow until after the first break with late registration still open. Meanwhile, cards are now in the air for Day 2. Best of luck to all players in reaching the money and beyond.
The past two days the Kings of Tallinn have witnessed 528 entries battle it out during the four opening flights of the €555 Championship leaving just 250 players with chips on Day 2 with the prize pool currently standing at €242,880.
These figures will increase and there is a good chance a new record will be established for this event at the Kings of Tallinn with late registration open for the first three 40-minute blind levels of Day 2 along with the 15-minute break that follows. The previous record of 573 entries was recently established at the 2023 Kings of Tallinn Summer Showdown won by Estonia's Maikel Homin for €56,900.
The event has an international feel as one can see by just taking a look at the top ten chip counts heading into the second day with seven different nationalities represented. Sweden's Bengt-Anders Johnsson was the only player to advance with more than 200,000 in chips after bagging up 212,600 on Day 1c. Estonian's Martti Keel (183,700), Ukraine's Mykhailo Mikhalov (180,600), Bulgaria's Presiyan Tsvetanov (179,200), and Estonia's Magnus Pukk (177,800) round out the top five heading into Day 2.

The plan for the second day is to play down to a final table, which will then be broadcasted on a 30-minute delay with hole cards exposed on Wednesday at OlyBet.tv.
In the meantime, our coverage on Tuesday commences as soon as cards are in the air for Day 2 at noon. Follow along the action here in English, or if you prefer you can head on over with easy access via this blog to the Estonian and Finnish language blogs focusing mostly on players from these countries.
