The Genting Poker Series 2017 tour is well underway with a great 334-entry event in Luton last weekend, and stops coming up soon in Newcastle and Sheffield.
There are 18 events planned for 2017 taking place right across the UK. The “Mini” events – such as next month’s event in Newcastle – have a £220 buy-in with £35,000 guarantee while the major £440 buy-in events – such as Sheffield in March, Westcliff-on-Sea, Essex, in May, Liverpool in August, Edinburgh in October, boasting a £100k guarantee.
The GPS Newcastle Mini runs February 16 to 19 with three start days and one re-entry per Day 1. If when bagging up, your chips total less than the starting stack, you can opt to surrender your chips and re-enter the next day. The £35,000 guaranteed prize pool includes nine seats GPS £440 events. Last year, Gerry McNally beat a 247-strong field to win £49,400.
John Bonadies won the debut GPS event of 2017 when he took down Leg 1 in Luton for £31,591. Bonadies, who made a three-way deal with runner-up Paul Danko and third-placed Rob Buky, now has well over $100k in total live tournament winnings.
