Following a brilliant season opener, the GUKPT has headed north this week for GUKPT Manchester.
We are Official Travel Partner for the event and can help find you a hotel in Manchester close to the Grosvenor venue.
The £200,000 guarantee Main Event starts on Thursday and Grosvenor Ambassador Andy Hills will be back to defend his title in the £1,110 buy-in event. When Manchester took place last year, Hills had just won a year’s £10,000 sponsorship deal – the Grosvenor Passport – which included free entry to every leg of that year’s GUKPT tour. He got off to a brilliant start by winning the second leg for a massive £46,988.
Andy said: “I’m playing Day 1b on Friday and will be doing my best to make it back-to-back victories! I'll be playing the side events too – tonight and tomorrow – and also the £275 NL tournament on Saturday if I bust the Main.”
Leg 2 of the popular GUKPT tour began on Sunday with the £20,000 guarantee Mini Main – there were a total of 305 entries creating a £61,000 prize pool. Grosvenor Ambassador Jeffrey Kimber is currently second in chips with 62 players still in contention at the start of Day 2 today.
Britain’s Andrew Hulme was the first GUKPT Champion this year – he won GUKPT London when he beat a 433-strong field for a career-best cash of £112,400.
Following GUKPT Manchester, the GUKPT heads to Edinburgh with a week-long festival starting April 22.
