This year’s EPT Barcelona is set to attract huge fields once again. PokerStars’ recent UKIPT Malaga festival attracted record numbers with players relishing the chance to play poker and enjoy the sun on the Costa del Sol.
EPT Barcelona takes place in an annexe of Casino de Barcelona at the Arts Hotel. It’s a great venue, right bang in the middle of the buzzy resort area of Port Olimpic. You’ll have sun, sea and sand in abundance, with a ton of restaurants, cafes and bars right on your doorstep.
EPT Barcelona is typically the first festival that players head to after their post-Vegas break. So whether you’re celebrating Vegas success, licking your wounds (!) or just excited to participate in one of the biggest festivals of the year, then Barcelona is the place to be at the end of next month.

The August 26 line-up includes the start of the €1,100 ESPT Main Event, a €1,100 Freezeout event and a €10,200 Mystery Bounty – as well as a sprinkling of milestone satellites starting at €250.
It’s non-stop from then on … tournaments the next day (August 27) include a €1,100 Seniors event, the new €12,300 PokerStars Cuatro Knockout plus yet more satellites.
The hectic pace keeps up throughout the two-week festival with highlights that include the €550 ESPT Cup, the €1,100 and €5,200 8-Game tourneys, the €2,200 ESPT High Roller, the €5,300 EPT Main Event (starting September 1), the €10,300 EPT High Roller, €1,650 PLO and €1,100 PLO Hi/Lo, and the €3k EPT Mystery Bounty.
And even if your budget doesn’t quite stretch to a €100,000 buy-in, it’s always fun watching the poker’s top guns battle it out in the EPT Super High Roller starting August 31. Other nosebleed events include a €30k Super High Roller Warm-up and €50k SHR Second Chance.
Main Event
Main Event players should bung September 1 in their diaries – Day 1a – and make sure they have got their accommodation sorted out. If you bust the Main, don’t worry because this year’s EPT Barcelona also features a half-price €2,700 Main Event Second Chance tournament with the first of two start flights kicking off on September 3.

Kelly Saxby, MET’s head of Retail Sales & Marketing, said: “EPT Barcelona is most definitely one of the stand-out events of the year and the 2024 edition looks set to be the biggest yet. Barcelona is a dream destination for poker players: it’s a fantastic, vibrant city with tons going on. This year’s schedule looks particularly lush with a lot going on for players of all kinds. Molta sort a tots!”
