As the £120 buy-in Grosvenor Poker Goliath Main Event charges into the record books, doors are now open at Ricoh Arena for anyone wanting to register as an alternate for today’s final Day 1.
With 850 already registered, Day 1G has officially sold out but the Alternate List is opening now. You must register in person at the casino but Grosvenor Poker is offering assurances that everyone who registers as an alternate will definitely be seated.
Make sure you have a room! Numbers are through the roof at this year’s Goliath but we still have rooms near the Ricoh Arena.
There have already been 4,838 entries at this year’s Goliath – and a packed Day 1G to come. Yesterday’s Day 1F drew 1,157 entries with Endrit Geci accruing the biggest stack with 693,000. The current chip leader is still Bogdan-Marius Aprodu who topped the Day 1A 882-entry field with 745,500. There are some 650 players already through to Day 2 which takes place tomorrow.
Today is your last chance to play in the biggest live poker event outside of Las Vegas. Every day of this year’s event has seen a record turn-out, with the event now guaranteed to beat last year’s 5,232 entries.
Reaching the target of 6,000 will see the prize pool hit a staggering £600,000. That’s plenty of life changing prizes on offer, particularly as many players will be there for an investment of just £120 – or in the case of the many satellite winners, even less.

The Goliath has seen considerable growth each year since the very first event back in 2012, with entry numbers rising from 1,954 in 2012 to 5,232 in 2016.
We advise all those planning to play Day 1G today to make sure they have a hotel room booked!
