GUKPT Edinburgh stop is well underway with 99 players taking part on Day 1a of the £10k guarantee Mini Main yesterday. There are 15 who have made it through with Iain Martin currently leading on 276,900. Flight 1b starts today at 6pm with the £100,000 guarantee Main Event kicking off on Thursday (March 30).
MainEventTravel.com now sponsors GUKPT’s all-in triangles so look out for them on the live stream from Edinburgh. MainEventTravel.com is the GUKPT’s Official Travel Partner and can help with your travel needs for Edinburgh, and the whole of the 2017 GUKPT tour.
Last year Christopher Riggens took down the Mini Main for a career-best cash of £3,500. Among those competing will be GUKPT Passport winner Andy “LogJam” Hills. He took down the last GUKPT in Manchester for £46,987. He was already a GUKPT and 25/25 Series regular but, thanks to winning the 2016 promotion, is now free rolling every leg of the 2017 GUKPT tour. Sensationally, he managed to convert his Passport prize in to a £46,987 victory on only the second leg of the 2017 tour. GUKPT Manchester attracted 268 entries creating a monster prize pool of £268,000 - the biggest field the Manchester stop has had in years.
As well as the Main Event in Edinburgh, the schedule also includes a £100 six max event, £82 Omaha 4/5/6 tourney and £110 Bounty tournament. The last GUKPT Edinburgh was won by Tommy Le (pictured) who topped a field of 184 for £25,000.
The first leg of GUKPT’s 2017 tour – in London in February – also made history, attracting a total of 435 entries, the biggest Main Event in GUKPT history.
2017 is the GUKPT’s 11th consecutive season and promises to provide another record breaking year with a packed schedule and £1.8 million in Main and Mini Main guarantees. There will be nine legs in total this year before the GUKPT Grand Final takes place at The Poker Room above the iconic Grosvenor Victoria Casino in London in November.
