Goliath, Europe’s biggest poker tournament, starts at the end of next month.
The Goliath is a massive festival running from July 25 to August 2 and is now the biggest tournament outside of the USA. The event has grown every year since its launch in 2011 and last year smashed records yet again with a massive 7,500 entries for the Main Event.
The 2019 Goliath Main Event kicks off July 27 with a £100 + £25 buy-in – and seven starting flights in total. Check out the Goliath event page for great accommodation near the venue.
This year’s Goliath promises to be even bigger, with an army of poker players – from first-timers to seasoned poker pros - preparing to descend on the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. With a guaranteed first prize of £100,000, organisers are anticipating more than 8,000 entries this year and a prize pool of over £800,000.
The Royal Court Hotel
The beautiful Grade II listed Royal Court Hotel is set in stunning gardens and features a fully equipped gym, pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room – perfect for winding down after a hard day at the poker tables. A twin or double room at the Royal Court Hotel for two nights – with Main Event buy-in included – will cost just £290 and for three nights, it’s £380.

Myriad side events including 25/50 and Super High Roller
Held every year at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, the Goliath is a massive festival and there are myriad side events to tempt players of all kinds outside of the Main Event.
The festival kicks off with the National 25/50 Event from July 24 to 28. The £200+25 buy-in tournament comes with a £50,000 guarantee and four starting flights (including an online only Day 1a). Players get a 25,000 starting stack with 40 minute levels for the live Day 1s and final day. British player Ryan Meager won last year’s event for £34,350 after beating a 657-strong field.
Also on the schedule is the two-day £300 + £35 Super High Roller from August 3-4. Last year’s event attracted nearly 300 entries with Britain’s Jarrett Owen snagging £20,000 and the trophy for his biggest ever live cash.
Goliath history
Last year’s Main Event in 2018 saw a massive 7,500 entries and a £758,400 prize pool. The eventual winner was Florian Duta. The Romanian pro turned his £125 buy-in into a £101,450 first prize, one of his biggest ever cashes in a career that’s already netted him close to $2 million in live tournament winnings.
