Following a brilliant season opener in London, the GUKPT heads north for GUKPT Manchester at the end of the month. Leg 2 of the tour starts this Sunday with the £20,000 guarantee Mini Main. The £200,000 guarantee Main Event starts on Thursday, March 1. Grosvenor Ambassador Andy Hills took down the last GUKPT in Manchester, just a few months after winning the Grosvenor Passport prize which awarded him free entry into all the 2017 GUKPT Main Events.
Britain’s Andrew Hulme won the first GUKPT of the year in London. He beat a 433-strong field to take down the event at the Poker Room above the Vic. It was a career-best cash of £112,400 for Hulme who has now won clocked up more than $750k in live tournament winnings. Runner-up Dean Swift, who is married to Grosvenor Ambassador Katie, also scored the best cash of his live poker career, taking £73,600 for his second-place finish. Others who made the money included Kully Sidhu, Scott Kateian, Les Kearney and Grosvenor Ambassador Will Kassouf who finished 16th for £3,500.
Following GUKPT Manchester, the GUKPT heads to Edinburgh with a week-long festival starting April 22.
888Live Bucharest
After starting 2018 in style at Aspers Casino London with the hugely successful “Kick Off” event, 888Live heads to Romania in March for 888Live Bucharest. The €288,000 guarantee Main Event starts on March 2 at the JW Marriott Hotel with Day 1a; Day 1b is on March 3. Also on the schedule are a €60 Ladies Event, €100+100+30 Super Progressive Knockout and €2,200 High Roller.
WPT & 888poker
March also sees the debut WPT500 in London. 888poker are joining forces with the WPT for the first time to create the £1,000,000 guarantee event which gives players multiple chances to cash in the same event. The unique formula will combine an online Day 1 on 888poker with live Day 1s at three Aspers Casino around the UK: Stratford in London as well as Aspers Newcastle and Milton Keynes. Aspers Stratford will have four starting days from March 23-25, then five more from March 29-31. The Aspers Casinos in Newcastle and Milton Keynes will each host three starting days from March 23-25. Day 2 and the final day will both take place at Aspers Casino in Stratford.
WPTDeepStacks Brussels is running March 5-11 at Grand Casino Brussels Viage. Along with the €1,100 Main Event, the schedule also includes a €2,200 High Roller, a €300 PLO Turbo and the €400 Viage Poker Cup. The Main Event has three start flights – Day 1a on March 8, Day 1b on March 9 and a Day 1c “Fast Chance” Turbo at 10p the same day. The WPT’s main tour has two big events in March: the WPT Rolling Thunder Main Event starts March 2 with a $3,200 buy-in and two start days. Following that, it’s Brazil Poker Live presents: WPT Argentina from March 15-19 in Casino Iguazú. This is an amazing chance to see Iguazu Falls, one of the seven wonders of the world! The dates for the WPT Argentina Main Event are March 14-19.

In Asia, we have APPT Macau to look forward to next month. This is a massive PokerStars festival running March 14-25 at Macau’s City of Dreams casino resort.
