Siddique in top 3 PSC Barcelona; Chidwick scores biggest cash

British player Usman Siddique is in the top three for Day 2 of the €7 million guarantee PokerStars Championship Barcelona Main Event. Siddique has 191,000 with Jose Latorre leading on 243,800. There were 1,233 players in all – with more than 850 through to Day 2.

 

Siddique, who lives in London, came to fame last year when he took down the UKIPT London Main Event for £84,100. He has been playing poker for more than five years and scored another big cash in in April this year when he was third in the partypoker MILLIONS Nottingham event for £105,000. He’s already had a good result here in Barcelona finishing 24th in the record-breaking PokerStars National Championship for a €17,510 payday.

 

Other notable players who have enjoyed a strong start to the Main Event include British pros Chris Moorman (123,200) and Martins Adeniya (113,200). Day 3 onwards of the Main Event is being broadcast live on multiple channels including Twitch, facebook and YouTube.

 

Victory for Chidwick

Stephen Chidwick triumphed in the first €25,500 Single Day Single Re-Entry tournament at PokerStars Championship Barcelona. The accomplished English pro beat a 122-entry field to scoop the lion's share of the €2,744,000 prize pool. Chidwick picked €690,400, the biggest prize of his career and said: “It's fantastic. It's my best result. " Chidwick, who is ranked #2 on the Hendon Mob’s UK all time money list, now has close to $9 million in live tournament winnings. He is enjoying a fantastic summer after marrying his long-time partner Marine just two weeks ago.

 

Barcelona has been a pivotal destination through PokerStars live tournament history. A host to the first-ever EPT stop back in 2004, the iconic tour has been regularly returning to the Catalonian capital every year. Barcelona is the only city that has welcomed the EPT in each of the 13 seasons. The last EPT Barcelona came down in history as the biggest-ever EPT Main Event, with Polish youngster Sebastian Malec beating a massive field of 1,785 players to take down the title along with a whopping €1,122,800.

 

Drawing huge turnouts through the 13-year EPT history, the award-winning tournament has evolved into Europe's most prestigious live poker event.

 

Other PokerStars events coming up include PokerStars Festival Uruguay September 16-23 and PokerStars Festival Dublin at the end of September. The next PokerStars Championship event after Barcelona will be PokerStars Championship Prague in December.
