Fab WPTDeepstacks events starting this week

By Mad Harper

Three fab WPTDeepstacks events are kicking off soon featuring stops in Brussels, the Philippines and Paris. WPTDeepStacks Brussels starts on Tuesday with a six-day festival runs Feburary 4-9 at the Grand Casino Brussels Viage. The packed schedule features a €370 + €40 Opener, the €1,100 + €100 Main Event, the €2,200 High Roller and the €150 Ladies Event.

This is the WPTDeepStacks tour's second visit to the Belgian capital this season. Last November, Gregory Luttke-Grech triumphed out of the 482-strong field to win the WPTDS title, trophy and €102,000 in prizemoney after beating Sonny Franco in an epic nine-hour heads-up battle.

Returning to the Grand Casino Brussels Viage, the WPTDeepstacks tour offers fresh opportunities for poker players to try to recreate what Luttke-Grech has already managed. Though the €1,200 Main Event is undoubtedly the pinnacle of the festival with over €500,000 generated in the prize pool last time, there are many more reasons to take a trip to Brussels with eight tournaments to choose from across the six-day series.

An exotic stop in the Philippines will get underway this week with WPT Philippines. The eagerly -anticipated festival starts runs from this Thursday to February 17 with the luxurious Okada Manila hosting the event for the first time. The PHP20 MILLION guarantee Main Event runs February 14 to 17 with a buy-in of PHP 80,000 (~US$ 1,500). Also on the schedule are a Super High Roller, Superstack Classic, PLO and Main Event Warm-up. WPT Philippines is eligible for Season 18 Asia Pacific Player of the Year.

Towards the end of this month the WPTDeepstacks tour heads back to Europe  with WPTDeepStacks Paris from February 21 to March 1 at Palais des Congrès de Paris – Porte Maillot. The €1,350 + €150 Main Event will get underway on February 26.

The Club Pierre Charron is the first club to be granted the use of its license outside their premises. This innovation marks a new milestone in the history of the World Poker Tour® in Paris with its WPTDeepStacks Paris festival being the first ever real-money poker tournament held in a congress venue. This new setup will include 40 tournament tables and a streamed final table set. The final tables of the opener, the High Roller and the WPT DeepStacks Paris Main Event will be part of the streaming programme.

Club Pierre Charron is a brand new venue which is partnering the WPT in Paris for the next three years. Le Club Pierre Charron will host its grand opening during the WPT® festival and will exclusively welcome all the players for this special event. To accommodate everyone the Club will offer free shuttles for players to discover the Club, its cash games and other table games available.

The state-of-the-art facility features more than 40 tables, a broad range of tournaments and cash games, a selection of casino games, and is fully equipped with RFID technology in its chips and tables. The club is also the largest gaming space in Paris and holds the most poker tables in the city.

The WPT and Paris hold a storied history dating back to Season I that includes the crowning of WPT Champions David Benyamine, Season XVI WPT Tournament of Champions winner Matthew Waxman, and Season XI WPT Player of the Year Matt Salsberg. This year’s exciting schedule also includes a WPTDeepStacks Opener starting February 21, the two-day €2,300 + €200 WPTDeepStacks High Roller on February 25 and the €135 + €15 Ladies Event on March 1.
