UK Pro and friend of MainEventTravel.com, Steve Warburton, pocketed just short of €1,000,000 at the EPT Barcelona Main Event, while proudly sporting the MainEventTravel logo. Steve outlasted all but one player, the legendary John Juanda, to finish second in a record breaking field of 1,694 entrants.
With Frederik Jensen exiting the tournament at the hands of Juanda, Steve found himself with a 4-1 chip disadvantage going into heads up play. Not long after a double up, both player found themselves looking at pocket pairs and the inevitable ‘All-in’ and ‘Call’ soon followed. Sadly, Steve’s 88 was in bad shape when Juanda tabled QQ. No matter how loud the British rail was, it could not stop the Queens holding.
Now with over $1.5 million in live earnings, including a 2nd place at WPT Amsterdam and a deep run at the WSOP Main Event this year, it seems like it won’t be long until Steve goes one better for the win.
The final table and pay-outs for the EPT Barcelona were:
1 - John Juanda, Indonesia, €1,022,593*
2 - Steve Warburton, United Kingdom, €941,613*
3 - Frederik Jensen, Denmark, €810,294*
