The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic has become a massive Winter tradition in the States as the biggest poker festival to close out the calendar year. December is also a great time to experience Vegas which is buzzing with high-octane poker action in the run-up to Christmas. 

 

This year’s WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic festival kicks off December 2 at the Bellagio with the five-day $10,400 Main Event starting December 15. The Bellagio itself is yet another reason to attend the event – it’s stunning at this time of year, with sumptuous decorations, lights and gigantic Christmas trees. 

 

MainEventTravel has a ton of hotel options for the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic including the Bellagio itself as well as other well-known Vegas hotels such as Planet Hollywood, Caesars, Vdara and Bally’s.

 

First held in 2002, the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic festival comprises dozens of different tournaments culminating in the flagship $10,400 Main Event. The roster of former champions includes such poker luminaries as Gus Hansen, Daniel Negreanu and Joe Hachem and Antonio Esfandiari. 

 

Thanks to interruption by the COVID-19 pandemic, the reigning WPT Five Diamond champion is still American William Foxen who took down the event two years ago for $1,694,995. There were more than a thousand entries in 2019 creating a prize pool of over $10 million.
