Day 1b of the €555 Kings of Tallinn Championship added 109 entries with 51 players surviving. This puts it on pace to potentially be the largest €555 event ever hosted in Tallinn as the 234 entries along with 108 survivors after two opening flights is ahead of pace to set a record.
Ukraine's Myhailo Mikhalov managed an amazing run to parlay his 30,000 opening stack into 180,600 after nine 40-minute blind levels to take the overall chip lead passing Day 1a chip leader from Estonia Magnus Pukk who is just behind with 177,800.
Dmitrij Bogdanov, Serhii Leonov, Jussi Kivekas, Akseli Paalanen, Maciej Komorowski, Touko Berndtson, and Jose Koistinen all managed to advance with six-figure stacks from Day 1a. Notable players including 2024 €350 Kings of Tallinn Cup champion Sven Omlend, Jonatan Fors, Jari Hurri, Aleksi Naski, and Algirdas Saveikis all advanced with shorter stacks.
2023 WSOP Circuit Tallinn Main Event champion Ignacio Gonzalez was one of the last players to bust on the day and we will likely see him back to try to add another big title in Tallinn on his budding poker resume. Kings of Tallinn podcast guest Anne Bezdek also gave it a try during Day 1b but came up empty was the case for other notable players including Kaupo Tenno, Tommi Lankinen, and Yaniv Peretz.
The action resumes with Day 1c on Monday, February 26 with Day 1d following in the evening at 7 p.m. with a faster 25-minute blind structure. Players can re-enter throughout all of the opening flights and again for more than two hours on Tuesday's Day 2 with late registration remaining open for three blind levels plus a break before the final field and prize pool of this prestigious event will be official.
