At last year’s 888poker LIVE Weekend in London, UK player Joe Hindry took down the Main Event for £60,000 which was, at the time, the best live poker cash of his career. Hindry, who was taught poker by his Dad and is a regular at the Vic, said he’d been dreaming of a major tournament win since he was 10 years old. He beat a 602-entry field to take down the event which boasted a massive prize pool of £240,800.
Nearly 60 players made the money with a min-cash worth £990. Among those who cashed were Kevin Allen, who finished third, Scotland’s Neil McCulloch, Steven Game, Calogero Morreale, Greece’s Alexios Zervos, Ben Winsor, Terry Jordon and former Irish Open champion Ian Simpson.
The 888poker LIVE Weekend acts as a taster for the first full 888poker LIVE UK festival of the year– the 888poker LIVE London festival – which is taking place in April. The tour will then be back in London in October for 888poker Live London II.
Located close to London’s famous Hyde Park and the attractions of Oxford Street and the West End, the Victoria Casino – or The Vic as it is affectionately known – is one of London’s oldest and most renowned venues. With its prestigious poker room that can host over 350 people, it’s the must-visit casino and poker venue of the English capital.
