Dusk till Dawn star Wadey Ashraf has won a Platinum Pass worth $30k to next January’s PokerStars Players NL Hold’em Championship in the Bahamas. Ashraf scooped his massive prize after taking down the Road to PSPC event held at the Nottingham card room last weekend.
Ashraf, a Dusk Till Dawn Hall of Famer, has cashed at more tournaments at the casino than any other player and his progress in the $25k buy-in event will be followed avidly by the DTD community. In addition to the Main Event buy-in, the $30k Pass includes six nights’ luxury hotel accommodation and $1,900 in cash towards expenses. The PSPC festival is taking place from January 22 - February 3, 2023 at the gorgeous Baha Mar resort with the Main Event starting on January 30.
Ashraf, who defeated a 449-strong field in the £340 Road to PSPC tournament along with a £16,380 cash prize, is enjoying a stellar year. In March, he finished third in the £1,000 GUKPT Coventry Main Event for £39,600 and then won the €250 Hendon Mob Championship at the Irish Open the following month for €10,825. He made headlines at his home casino after winning the £560 partypoker Championship Nottingham Main Event for another £66,271 two weeks later and he also cashed at the UKIPT Nottingham Main Event in July. However, his biggest cash remains the £93,113 he won after taking down The Monte Carlo event at Dusk Till Dawn in December 2009.
Ashraf said: “I’m really excited about winning the Platinum Pass. I’ve been to the Bahamas before to compete in the Caribbean Poker Party but I’ve never played the PCA or PSPC. I got close in 2018 when I made the final table of the PokerStars Festival London Main Event but ended up finishing fifth. The winner – Kalidou Sow – went on to become a PokerStars Team Pro!”
Ashraf will be back in action later this week when he competes at the Grand Prix UK at Dusk Dawn. The partypoker LIVE event will pay out a guaranteed £100,000 prize pool for a buy-in of just £120 – with the first Live Day 1 taking place on Thursday. Four further starting flights will be held over the next two days before Day 2 on Sunday, September 11, where the tournament champion will be crowned. All players who reach Day 2 will cash.
At the last Grand Prix UK, Beihao Wang won £25,000 after outlasting a field of 1,507 players and all the final table players secured payouts of at least four figures.
Staff and players at Dusk Till Dawn have welcomed Ashraf’s Platinum Pass triumph. Manager Ryan Brodsky said: “We couldn't be happier for Wadey at Dusk Till Dawn. He has been one of our most loyal customers over the years and his successes speak for themselves. He is even on our 'Wall of Fame' as a result! We wish him all the best in the Bahamas.”
