The Malta Poker Festival is just two weeks away from making its triumphant return to the luxurious Portomaso Casino 24th April – 1st May.

 

The festival boasts 33 amazing events with something for every recreational and professional player alike with buy-ins ranging from €120 to €1,100 across a variety of formats including No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, Crazy Pineapple, and HORSE.

 

While many players are coming out for the many side events on the schedule, most are looking forward to the €300,000 guaranteed Malta Poker Festival Grand Event powered by Unibet DeepStack Open (UDSO).

 

 

Malta Poker Festival Grand Event €300K GTD

Blinds will increase slowly at every 40 minutes with the only exception being the final opening flight with Day 1E billed as a turbo-charged affair with 20-minute blind levels. Players can re-enter up to two times during each opening flight providing plenty of chances to advance in the Grand Event with a healthy stack.

 

Players that find a bag during any of the opening flights will already be in the money before battling it out for two more days on April 30 and May 1 until a winner is crowned. Players who are looking for bigger bags, ie more chips for Day 2, can surrender their stack and take another shot on another Day 1. 

 

Players have the option to pre-register for the Grand Event, satellites, and side events via MainEventTravel.com or using the Luxon Pay app.

Malta Poker Festival Grand Event History

 

The Malta Poker Festival launched in 2018 and proved to be popular right off the bat with 1,366 entries generating a €662,510 prize pool to smash the lofty €500,000 guarantee. Italy’s Emanuele Onnis shipped the event for a cool €150,000. The following year witnessed Lithuania’s Tomas Sujeta etching his name into the Malta Poker Festival history books by winning the Grand Event for the same €150,000 top prize claimed by Onnis.

 

As was the case with most poker festivals around the globe, the Malta Poker Festival was forced to postpone its live festival during both 2020 and 2021 due to the worldwide pandemic.

 

The Malta Poker Festival came back with a bang in 2022 as for the first time a Spring Edition was added to the schedule. The Grand Event’s €300,000 guarantee was blasted away with 1,014 entries generating a €486,720 prize pool. Netherlands’ Marthijn Lakerveld shipped the bacon for a cool €71,000.

 

This was followed up during the Malta Poker Festival’s usual time in the Autumn with Italy’s Mirko Mostaccio defeating a field of 1,326 entries to win the €136,670 top prize after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Germany’s Thomas Harnes.
