Below are details for six hotels conveniently sited near the Vic.

Hilton Metropole

The Hilton Metropole is a top choice for the GUKPT Grand Final – it’s super-convenient, comfortable and not too pricey. The 4*, 1,100-room property has a large gym and four bars and restaurants including the Tyburn Kitchen, grab-and-go Tyburn Market and the Bow Bar which is open until 1am. There’s free WiFi, a 24-hour front desk, concierge service and daily housekeeping. All rooms come with a flat screen TV, tea- and coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, desk area and free toiletries in the bathroom. The hotel is spitting distance from the Vic and enjoys great transport connections – Edgware Road tube station and Paddington Station both just around the corner and in just a 10-minute walk, you can be shopping in Oxford Street or enjoying a pre-tourney stroll in Hyde Park.

OYO Boston Court Hotel

Located just two minutes' walk from Marble Arch, Hyde Park and Oxford Street – and only six minutes’ walk from the Vic – the affordable OYO Boston Court is ideally situated for the GUKPT Grand Final. It’s a basic but friendly, family-run hotel housed in a restored English Heritage-listed Victorian property in Upper Berkeley Street. All rooms feature satellite TV, fridge, a hairdryer, fan and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The hotel is adults only (no under 12s allowed) which is likely a bonus for poker players – no kids racing down the corridor when you’re trying to get some shut-eye! A few “quad” rooms allow four people sharing so this could be ideal for players on a budget who aim to spend most of their time at the casino or out and about.

The Landmark London

If you want to splash out and enjoy a super luxurious stay during the GUKPT Grand Final, then the Landmark is for you! This gorgeous property, which dates back to the late 19th century, is located in Marylebone - close to Regents Park and only ten minutes’ walk from the Vic. Back in 1899 when the Landmark first opened, rooms only cost three-and-sixpence a night; they’re rather more now (!) but with its dramatic entrance and vast, eight-storey glass-roofed atrium replete with towering palm trees, this would be a spectacular Christmas present to yourself during the GUKPT Grand Final. The guest rooms are elegantly designed and come equipped with Queen size beds, flat-screen satellite TV, comfy armchairs, free Wi-Fi access and marble bathrooms with White Company toiletries. Facilities at the hotel’s sumptuous spa are free to guests and include steam room, sauna, swimming pool and fully-equipped gym. There are also massages, reflexology and hot stone treatments available. For wining and dining, there’s the Winter Garden in the spectacular atrium plus the Great Central Bar & Restaurant, garden terrace and Mirror Bar.

Days Inn Hyde Park

Located in a quiet elegant Georgian terrace close to Paddington station, the 55-room Days Inn Hyde Park has a 24-hour front desk and free Wifi. Most London hotels don’t have onsite parking but the Days Inn does – private parking is available at £20/day. It’s a 12-minute walk to the Vic and just 500 metres to Hyde Park. All rooms have a desk, flat screen TV and tea- and coffee-making facilities. A generous continental breakfast buffet is served daily in the spacious dining room and the cosy lounge bar offers a range of beverages and light snacks. The Days Inn is an affordable option for players and, in some rooms, sharers can both get a double bed. Check-in from 2pm, check out at 11am.

Norfolk Towers Hotel Paddington

The 4* Norfolk Towers Hotel is another conveniently-located property just nine minutes’ walk from the Vic. There is a 24-hour front desk, free Wifi and room service. The 85 air-conditioned, comfortably-furnished rooms all have flat screen TV, fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities and en-suite bathroom. All the rooms are also fully soundproofed which could be handy for players rising late! There is a relaxing lounge & bar and the Paddington Pies restaurant is open six nights a week. Check-in from 3pm, check out at 11am.

DoubleTree by Hilton London - Marble Arch

The 4* DoubleTree at Marble Arch is a luxury option just 11 minutes’ walk from the Vic. Located in the heart of the West End just off Oxford Street, the hotel is close to the park and boasts “contemporary ambiance and attentive friendly service.” There’s free Wifi, a 24-hour front desk and well-equipped, onsite fitness centre. The spacious guestrooms and suites all feature generous workspace, luxurious beds, flat screen satellite TV, tea- and coffee-making facilities, en suite bathroom – with power shower(!). As well as the Michelin-starred Texture restaurant, the hotel also features more casual Fire and Spice Restaurant, the elegant Portman Lounge for afternoon tea and the contemporary Indigo Bar & Lounge. Check-in from 3pm, check out at midday.
