The Aspers Winter Poker Fest is just a few days away

The Aspers Winter Poker Fest is just a few days away and features a £120,000 guaranteed Main Event as well as more than a dozen other tournaments.

Aspers Winter Poker Fest is taking place from January 24 to February 5 at the celebrated Stratford Casino and features a ton of satellites along with the £600 buy-in Main Event, £1,250 High Roller, Progressive Bounty, 4/5/6 PLO event and a £150 + £150 + £40 Mystery Bounty tournament.

At the last major Aspers festival – Autumn Fest 2022 – Steven Spivack took down the Main Event for a bumper prize of £35,318 after a deal with Chris Dirs who took home £35,315. There were 371 entries in all – which generated a guarantee-busting prize pool of nearly £200k. It was the largest field so far since Aspers launched its seasonal festivals in December 2021.

The £540 + £60 Winter Fest Main Event runs February 2nd – 5th this time round, with 3 days 1’s on 40 minute clock and the 1d Turbo with a 15 minute clock. Players start with 30,000 chips, and can re-enter up to 3 times, until the start of Day 2 on February 4th.

The previous season £250 Warm Up had a nice turn-out, smashing the £20,000 guarantee. Denas Pranaitus took home first place and £6900 after a deal with Charles Chatta who secured 2nd and £6500 in winnings. Michael London will be joining in the Warm Up event action next Friday January 27th after securing the Winter Fest Warm Up £500 Package in the recent promotion with MainEventTravel.com.

Additional results from the last season include another deal that was made in the Progressive Bounty between Aspers regular Tony Poulengeris (pictured) who secured a first-place finish and £3,824 in winnings, and Jen-Yue Chiang who came second with a £3,354 payday.

 Danh Tran won the High Roller for £18,870. The event easily beat its £50k guarantee attracting 59 entries to generate a prize pool of £65,810.

Aspers Customer Services Manager Janis Mozajevs said: “We’ve been running seasonal festivals since we re-opened after the pandemic and they’ve been going very well. Autumn Fest was a huge success and was the largest Main Event field we’ve had so far. It was also the first time we’d included a High Roller on the schedule. It certainly went down well and attracted quite a few high-profile names including EPT London and WPT Barcelona finalist Martins Adeniya who finished fifth and Unibet London High Roller champion Damian Bell who came seventh.”

Since Aspers I’ve already used the site again to book a hotel in London for the up and coming Mega Series. Aspers Casino was great, easy to find, located within a huge retail/shopping centre with a fab food court just down the escalator and the entrance to the station is located just outside. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and even though I didn’t manage to cash the tournament, I did make a little bit playing the cash games and I had a lot of fun too.
