Thanks to everyone who entered our WPT500 hotel recommendation promotion and congrats to Tony Isaac who has won himself a WPT500 prize package worth £800 after success in today’s draw! Isaac’s £800 prize comprises the £560 entry into the Main Event plus a £240 hotel credit from MainEventTravel.com.
The promotion asked fans on MainEventTravel’s Facebook page to recommend their favourite Nottingham hotels in advance of the WPT500 at Dusk Till Dawn which gets underway next week. More than 60 players joined in the fun, offering up a whole bunch of fantastic hotel endorsements.
Tony Isaac (pictured above) recommended Leonardo Hotel, a former Jury’s Inn that lies close to Nottingham city centre (pictured below). Isaac said: “Near the station but more importantly a short walk to get some good grub and sport while waiting for your Day 2 to start…!” Isaac wasn’t the only player to recommend Leonardo Hotel; Janna Leach said: “Service is welcoming and calm. Just what you’d need to accompany a poker tournament stay.” The Leonardo offers free Wifi, the Inntro Bar and Innfusion Restaurant, and parking lies just two minutes’ away.
There was also a resounding thumbs up for the Holiday Inn at Castle Marina which was recommended by numerous players. The Holiday Inn Castle Marina is a modern 128-room hotel with 24-hour reception, lift access, bar and restaurant. A ton of players recommended this hotel, praising its great location, reasonable prices and proximity to Dusk Till Dawn. Several players mentioned the fact that Dusk Till Dawn is within walking distance along a picturesque canal towpath. Driving is also quick (10 min) or you can grab an Uber (approx. £7-£10). According to our Facebook fans, the Holiday Inn has nice rooms, comfy beds, good WiFi, parking, friendly staff and serves a decent breakfast. The hotel lies close to local amenities such as a 24-hour McDonalds and Sainsbury’s.
Other hotels which won players’ approval include the Park Plaza Nottingham (“10 mins drive from DTD. Asian restaurant, gym and bar”), Travelodge (“Cheap, reliable and always excellent service!”), Hylands (“very homely feel and the cooked breakfasts are really good”) and Crowne Plaza (“a nice Spa that’s always nice to come back to use after a long day/weekend of poker”.)
Whichever hotel you like the sound of, we recommend that you sort out your reservation promptly! DTD is expecting a huge field for the WPT500 which is back at the Nottingham Casino after a seven-year hiatus – so don’t leave it too late!
In addition to Isaac winning the full £800 prize package for the WPT500, five other players won £50 travel credits with MainEventTravel. They were: Ryan Osman, Ryan Johnstone, Christie Ellis, Paul Vas Nunes, and Sylvia Cole.
Special shout-outs!
Thanks to Colin McGuire for his romantic description of Hart's Hotel and Kitchen: “Perfect location, 2 mins walk to the castle. Beautiful views from our room overlooking the city. Food, lovely! Breakfast was one of the best I ever had. Service was fabulous and everyone makes you feel welcome. A romantic stroll through the garden to end the night. Will definitely be back....”
And Michael London for his recommendation of The Village: “always decent if you can get it for a competitive price. Really comfy beds. Has a decent restaurant, bar, swimming pool, gym and a Starbucks on site. Everything you need to have a positive mindset at the poker table!”
Kelly Saxby, MET Retail Sales & Marketing, said: “It’s been a very exciting promotion and thanks so much to everyone who posted such great hotel recommendations. This will give players lots of tips on where to stay! It’s so great that the WPT500 is coming back to DTD; it’s clear there is a lot of enthusiasm for the event, for Dusk Till Dawn Casino AND for Nottingham so don’t leave it too late to book your accommodation!”
Dusk Till Dawn hosted the first UK version of the WPT500 back in 2014. There were 2,133 entries with Eleanor Gudger winning £140,000. In 2015, Swansea player Richard Harris outlasted a 1,615-entry field to win £150,000. At the last Dusk Till Dawn edition of the WPT500 in 2016, there were 1,835 entries with British pro Ben Winsor snagging the £182,700 top prize.
In addition to the Main Event, this month’s WPT500 festival also includes a £2,200 Super High Roller and £230 WPT NLHE Freezeout (both starting May 25) plus a £1,100 High Roller, £120 WPT Bounty and the £120 WPT Finale event.
