If you’re a deep stack poker enthusiast then there’s no better place to head for in Vegas than the Venetian. The sumptuous Italian-style casino located right on the Strip has been a mecca for deep stack players for more than 15 years and, as usual, has furnished 2022 with a virtually non-stop offering of deep stack events.
With 48 different tournaments on the schedule – and more than $3.4 million in guaranteed tournament prize pools - the upcoming Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza IV provides a hefty smorgasbord of deep stack tournaments to suit all budgets. It’s taking place throughout November with events every single day. In fact, the sheer number of big tournaments that the Venetian offers next month – possibly the dreariest and least appealing month of the year in Europe – is unparalleled.
The schedule highlight is the $1 million guaranteed Card Player Poker Tour Main Event. This comes with a $2,500 buy-in and features three starting flights from November 17-19. There are also two MSPT events with big guarantees – the $1,100 MSPT festival opener starting on November 1 ($250k guaranteed) plus the $1,600 buy-in MSPT event starting on November 3 ($750k guaranteed). There are also a wide variety of other “deep stack” and “ultimate stack” events – with buy-ins starting at just $200.
At the last Extravaganza in September, the MSPT $1,100 Main Event was won by poker commentator Jeff Platt. The Las Vegas native defeated a field of 470 entries en route to his first-ever poker tournament trophy and a first prize of $100,804. Platt is widely known for his PokerGO interviews and work in the commentary booth but is now making quite a name for himself table-side as well.
The Venetian launched its first Deepstack Series back in 2007, at the request of players who were looking for great value as well as the opportunity to use and develop their poker smarts. As with all deep stack events, tournaments at Venetian DeepStack Extravaganza IV will provide you with more starting chips, a better structure, and longer levels.
DeepStack Extravaganza events take place five times a year and are a must on every poker player’s calendar with exciting high-stakes poker play and some of the largest prize pools around. But they’re not the only deep stack series that the Venetian offers – the Casino actually hosts three different festivals at regular intervals throughout the year, the other two being the DeepStack Showdown Poker Series and the DeepStack Championship Poker Series which returns in May next year.
The Venetian tends to begin a new series as soon as the old series ends however so you can be fairly sure that – whatever time of the year you head to Vegas – there will be something to tempt you at 3355, South Las Vegas Boulevard.
If you happen to be in Vegas right now, then the Venetian’s current offering is the DeepStack Showdown Poker Series. This is a shorter series that’s mainly designed for locals and those staying a short drive away. There’s $1.8 million in guaranteed prize pools up for grabs and still another dozen or so events on the schedule.
The final Venetian Deepstack Extravaganza of the year is the DeepStack Extravaganza NYE which starts on December 1 and runs until January 8, 2023.
