All Eyes on Luton for Next GUKPT

The next big event on the Grosvenor calendar is the GUKPT’s second visit of the year to Luton. The festival gets underway at the Grosvenor Casino on September 14 with a packed line-up of tournaments scheduled. The Grosvenor National Poker League contest is also hotting up as we head towards the last four events of 2023.

In addition to the flagship £1,250 GUKPT Main Event, other highlights for Leg 7 of the 2023 tour include the £340 Mini Main tournament, the £560 Midi Main tournament, a £2k High Roller, a £3k Super High Roller and the £550 GUKPT Cup. GUKPT Luton runs from September 14 to September 24. In addition to the 10 live tournaments, the final “The Closer” tournament will take place online at Grosvenor Poker at the end of the festival.

This is Season 17 of the GUKPT, the UK’s longest-running tour. MainEventTravel.com is Grosvenor Poker’s Official Travel Partner making it incredibly easy to find accommodation for all the legs of the 2023 tour.

At the first GUKPT Luton this year – an 11-day festival in the Spring – American Chris Day (pictured) took down the Main Event for a monster first prize of £88,150. Day, originally from Florida but now based in the UK, rarely plays live tournaments and his win was his biggest live cash. Others who headed home from Luton with trophies included Jonathan McCann who took down the Luton Cup and city trader Sebastien Jung beat Grosvenor Ambassador Jamie Nixon heads-up to take down the fiercely-contested GUKPT High Roller. Jung won £48,100 for his efforts with Nixon winning £31,600.

Following Luton, the GUKPT will be heading to Leeds for Leg 8 of the tour followed by GUKPT Blackpool - Leg 9 in November and the GUKPT Grand Final London Victoria starting November 23.

The Grosvenor National Poker League contest is hotting up as we head towards the last four events of 2023. The indefatigable Bedfordshire-based Cal Morreale is the current leader and some 100 points ahead of Scotland’s Robbie Bull. Cal started the year all guns blazing with a runner-up finish at Leg 1 in London, and victory at Leg 2 in Manchester. Bull’s prolific cashes this year have included two High Roller finals (London and Luton) plus final appearances in both the Main Event and Mini Main in Edinburgh, and a third-place finish in the London GUKPT Cup in August. The league winner becomes the Grosvenor Player of the Year and wins a Grosvenor sponsorship package worth £40k.
