Grosvenor Poker has released the schedule for its new UK Poker Open event which is taking place in Coventry starting February 19. The £1,000,000 guaranteed Main Event – known as the UK Open – starts on March 1 and has a £1,500 buy-in with five different starting flights.
The event runs from February 19 to March 5 and is being held at the Grosvenor Casino Coventry at the Coventry Building Society Arena, home to both GUKPT Coventry as well as the annual Goliath festival as well.
In addition to the UK Open, there are nearly 20 other tournaments on the UK Poker Open schedule including the popular new £550 GUKPT Cup, a two-day £115 Ladies UK Championship, a £200 + £200 + £40 Mystery Bounty tournament, the Mini UK Open with a £340 buy-in, a £2k High Roller and a £150 Seniors tournament. The schedule also gives players plenty of opportunities to win their way into tournaments with a bunch of super satellites also running at the venue.
As always, MainEventTravel.com, the GUKPT’s Official Travel Partner, looks forward to helping players with all their travel needs for the UK Poker Open including great hotels near the Coventry Building Society Arena venue.
Grosvenor Ambassador Jamie Nixon, who just won his first GUKPT title at the Grand Final in London, said: “The UK Poker Open looks incredible. People were saying just a few short years ago that the live scene was dying and here we are with a £1m guaranteed tournament! Things are going from strength to strength and I can’t wait to be involved in this massive event.”
Nixon was among several players who won seats worth £1,500 for the UK Poker Open at the recent GUKPT Grand Final in London. Nixon topped the chips on Day 1a of the Grand Final while Artan Dedusha was the Day 1b chip leader and Francis Obadun had the Day 1c chip lead. All three win a £1,500 seat.
Jack Hardcastle, who took down the GUKPT Grand Final High Roller for £52,900, also snagged a seat into the UK Open event plus 25 National Poker League points which have secured him a £10k package for 2023.
Grosvenor Ambassador Katie Swift said: “Wow! This new event is surely the best festival to be created for the UK – with the Main Event set at a huge £1 million guaranteed prize pool. The announcement has already got the British poker players buzzing and I’m sure it will attract players from other countries too, which would be brilliant. Coventry is a convenient location for players and it’s my personal favourite Grosvenor Casino. Fingers crossed for success there next spring!”
Swift was also thrilled to see a Ladies Event on the recently-released schedule. She has been championing and hosting Ladies Events for many years and has a thriving ladies’ game online on Grosvenor Poker as well.
