It looked like Garrido would be heading out the door after Kalju's king paired up on the flop. The turn changed the entire hand as Garrido improved to a set of ladies.

Garrido wasn't safe yet as he needed to fade a ten on the river as this would have improved Kalju to Broadway. No ten came. Instead the river completed the board for Garrido to double through Kalju.

Meanwhile, Kai Lehto hit the rail at a different table at around the same time to leave just 46 players remaining.

Players are now on a short break. Blinds will increase to 8,000/16,000 with a big blind ante of 16,000 when the action resumes. We will update some of the bigger stacks around the room during the break.

The €3,000 High Roller is already up to 41 entries with late registration open for around 3 more hours.

Teresa Nousiainen just reminded players that the High Rollers will be treated to a special VIP dinner during the dinner break. 

So far, just two players have hit the rail in the High Roller including Igor Pihela Sr. and Juho Suutari. Suutari has thus far not re-entered, while Pihela Sr. is already back in action. His son, Igor Pihela Jr. is also in the mix as is GGPoker Ambassador Niall Farrell.

Meanwhile, the action has slowed down some after a fury of eliminations in the Main Event after the bubble broke and there are still 48 players remaining.

Cards are in the air for Day 3 with the action six off the money bubble.

The 2023 Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event is the new gold standard for the festival and perhaps for poker festivals around the Baltics. The event attracted a banner field of 716 entries to generate a whopping €673,040 prize pool.

This not only smashed the lofty €500,000 guarantee but also set a new record for the Kings of Tallinn, previously beating the 674 entries in 2020 when Johan Karlsson won the event for €120,100 after agreeing to a heads-up deal with Ermo Kosk. This is also the third largest poker tournament in Estonian history with just the two EPT Tallinn events that took place more than a decade ago creating bigger prize pools with the assistance of bigger buy-ins.

The field is down to just 93 hopefuls in the hunt for the title with the money bubble looming early on Day 3 thanks to the event paying the top 87 players at least a €2,100 min-cash. The eventual winner on Sunday will take home much more with a €140,100 top prize on the line.

Latvia’s Pavel Spirins is in the driver’s seat to start the day with a chip-leading stack of 868,000 with Paul Koppe (845,000) as the only other player above 800,000 to start the day.

However, there are many other players to keep your eyes peeled on including WSOP bracelet winner Ranno Sootla, who resides in third place. Sootla is already in the Kings of Tallinn history books after winning the inaugural Kings of Tallinn Main Event in 2015 and is looking to become the first two-time champion.

Another player to watch out for is GGPoker Ambassador Anatoly Filatov, who has called Tallinn his home in recent times and lives not too far from the casino. Filatov, who normally plays events with much bigger buy-ins and is well-known as one of the best players in the world, is in the middle of the pack with 228,000.

Today will play down to an official final table. So expect a longer day than yesterday. This is subject to change depending on how the tournament flows.
